I don’t want to cycle to Logan Square for rehearsal.

I would so much rather be formatting my script for “Much Ado About Nothing” right now than writing this damn paper…
All right “Anything Goes,” you win this time
(1 plays)Chicago Tribune Review of "Big Fish"
For once I actually agree with Chris Jones, except for the whole fish thing. I liked that we weren’t beat over the head with images of the title character.
I had forgotten almost half of what happens in Green Day’s “American Idiot” but somehow it made the musical better. I was irritated by the story this time around. A bunch of poor white boys from the suburbs whining about how much their lives such and how everyone is out to get them. The only redeeming quality of these characters is that, finally, in the last song they figure out that yes, you do have to grow up some time. Also, “American Idiot” is quickly dating itself. Lyrics such as “criticize the Eiffel Towers, who criticize your government” are very topical, if it’s 2003. Ten years later and it would be worth it reproduce the show in some sort of updated or different way. And it sucks because I love Green Day and I love the American Idiot album. I just don’t why it had to be made into a musical.

Closed Plus Size last night. Now it’s time for a two week break from theatre to focus on school stuff before jumping back in with Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.
